Development of Tasmania’s Suicide Prevention Strategy, 2010: Literature Review

This literature review aims to identify evidence-based best practice in the development & implementation of suicide prevention strategies. Literature from both international & Australian sources is drawn upon in order to inform the development of a suicide prevention strategy for Tasmania. The review seeks to identify the most apparent successful elements of suicide prevention strategies that address the range & complexity of factors that contribute to suicide. A discussion of the Tasmanian context is undertaken & any gaps between current proposals & best practice in suicide prevention are identified. Suggestions are provided for the focus of attention in the development of the Tasmanian suicide prevention strategy. JA
