1329 Iranian soldiers were randomly selected from the Infantry Forces in different regions & all were requested to complete the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation & the General Health Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using correlation tests. Results revealed psychological factors, negative family background, environmental & task-related problems, & sociodemographic problems were significantly associated with suicide ideation. It is concluded suicide ideation could be prevented if soldiers with psychosocial problems were identified & Army officials applied appropriate methods to solve these psychological problems.
