The authors present a case study of an individual who engaged in & lived through 3 separate “attempted suicide-by-cop” incidents. After describing relevant history as well as events of the most recent incident, the case is compared with the extant literature on suicide by cop & commonalities & differences are analyzed. The legal considerations involved are examined with particular attention paid to the role the individual’s traumatic brain injury played in applying the insanity defense. (20 refs.)
