The “It’s a Goal” project was launched in 2004 at the Moss Rose Stadium, home of the Macclesfield Town Football Club. The project involves a community psychiatric nurse working within the club & using the stadium as a base for the service which utilises a group work approach to focus on mental health awareness & mental health promotion activities to address issues that may lead to mental illness, ill health, & suicide among young men. This paper outlines the processes used to evaluate the first 18 months of the project & analyses the impact that “It’s a Goal” has had on participants.
