In September 2009, the Canadian Forces Surgeon General convened an expert panel on suicide prevention. This report includes a comprehensive model of potential targets for suicide prevention in the Canadian Forces, prevention strategies, a systems approach to suicide prevention, implementation issues, & conclusions. 9 appendices include items such as the panel’s recommendations, an evaluation of the Canadian Forces’ approach compared to the United States Air Force suicide prevention program, the most recent surveillance report from the Directorate of Force Health Protection, & suicide awareness & education in the Canadian Forces.
