This article provides a brief description of the United States Army Medical Department Behavioral Health Proponency, an effort to bring together different disciplines & initiatives under one central organization. Three areas will be addressed: suicide prevention, administrative separations, & posttraumatic stress disorder/traumatic brain injury. The Proponency has been working to improve surveillance, decrease stigma, & improve educational materials with the goal of reducing suicidal behaviour. (2 refs.)
