This survey analyzed suicide in Kosova for the period 2000-2008, focusing on 2007-2008. For the year 2000, there was an increase of 122 percent in suicide cases compared to 1983. After 2005, a slight decrease in suicides was noted. Suicides were significantly more prevalent in males than females in both 2007 & 2008. Most suicides occurred in the age groups 21-30 & 31-40 in 2007 & 21-30 & 41-50 in 2008. Suicide were more frequent in rural areas. In 2007, most suicides occurred in July & in 2008, June & October. Suicide prevention will require a multi-sectoral approach. (18 refs.)
