This research extended the work of Mireault & deMan (1996) by identifying & bringing together all the risk factors identified in the literature on elder suicide into a comprehensive predictive model grounded in theory. The interrelations of these factors were investigated. Within this model, psychological resilience reflects positive approaches to life & engagement in activities that enhance the ability to effectively deal with stressful situations. The implications of this research are outlined as is the study design. (29 refs.)
