The Mental Health of Graduate Students at the Federal University of Sao Paulo: a Preliminary Report

Data regarding the care provided to graduate level health professionals at the mental health centre of the Federal University of Sao Paulo is presented. 146 students were seen from September 1996-September 2003. The main diagnoses were depression & anxiety disorders, causing 4.5% of the students to be suspended temporarily from their studies. Suicidal tendencies were mentioned by 18 percent of those interviewed. (14 refs.) JA
