The Effectiveness of a Web-Based Self-Help Intervention to Reduce Suicidal Thoughts: a Randomized Controlled Trial

Using a randomized controlled trial, this study will evaluate a self-help intervention. The intervention is based on cognitive behavioural therapy & is aimed at individuals experiencing mild to moderate suicidal thoughts. 130 participants will be randomly allocated to the intervention condition & 130 to the information control condition. Self-report questionnaires will be filled out at baseline, 6 weeks after baseline, & 18 weeks after baseline. The primary outcome measure will be the reduction in frequency & intensity of suicidal thoughts. (58 refs.)
