Wallace L J D~~Sleet D A~~James S P
The authors highlight the unintentional injury & violence-related causes of death, by age group, for Native Americans for 1992-1994. Some of the key findings were that: when combined, unintentional injury, homicide & suicide were the leading cause of death among males & the second leading cause of death among both genders combined; suicide outranked homicide as a cause of death, especially among males; over four times more Native American men than women died by suicide; & over a third of all suicides occurred before the age of 25.
