Final Report on the Development and Testing of a Suicide Checklist for use in Remand Centres

This report is the final report of a research program by the authors & correctional workers in Alberta to develop a suicide checklist. Four separate but related investigations were done & the findings are presented in this report. The first project developed a pool of clinical & historical items which could be used to discriminate suicide risk among remanded inmates. The second project tested the reliability of the items generated & settled on a format for the checklist. The third project field-tested the revised checklist. In the fourth & final stage, the discriminant validity of checklist items, demographic, & offense variables was assessed.
