This report summarizes results from 36 state surveys & 10 local surveys conducted among representative samples os school principals & lead health education teachers. Characteristis of health education programs in middle, junior, & senior high schools were studied. The median percentage of schools that tried to increase student knowledge in selected topics, including suicide prevention, was more than 73% for each topic. The range of schools that tried to increase student knowledge about suicide prevention was 54.7%-85.1% across states & 53.6%-90.4% across cities.
