In this letter to the editor, the authors highlight a number of issues they feel were not given due prominence in a series of articles on the management of depression in a previous issue of this journal. They discuss suicide among individuals with mental disorders (particularly affective disorders), risk & protective factors, risk of suicide during the course of antidepressant therapy, & suicidal communications.
