It discusses prevalence, stigma, risk & protective factors, impulsivity, high risk groups, & attempts by children, the elderly, & among Indigenous populations. Reform is sought in the following areas: improved understanding of the lived experiences of suicide attempt survivors, the development of alternative &/or intervention options to hospitalization; providing assistance to suicide attempt survivors, & responding to suicide attempts in closed institutions. 9 recommendations are made.
