A psychological autopsy study was conducted comparing 60 suicide cases & 120 living controls matched in age, gender, & area of residence in Bali. Multiple logistic regression analysis identified the risk factors as being: at least one diagnosis of axis-I mental disorder; low level of religious involvement; & severe interpersonal problems. 48 of the suicide cases were diagnosed with mental disorders; however, only 16.7% visited a primary care health professional & none received psychiatric treatment during the month prior to their death.
