Assessment and Care of Adults at Risk for Suicidal Ideation and Behaviour: Nursing Best Practice Guideline

This best practice guideline aims to assist nurses working in diverse practice settings in providing evidence-based care to adults at risk for suicide ideation & behaviours. Adults at risk may include any adult who may exhibit risk factors, with or without expressed suicide intent. The focus of this guideline is on best practice within the context of the individual nurse-client relationship. The guideline focuses on individuals over the age of 17 & addresses: recognition & assessment of risk for suicide ideation & behaviour; nursing interventions towards the reduction of risk; & strategies to promote the ongoing wellness of the client & the nurse.
