This pilot study evaluated the effect of Family Connections, a dialectical behaviour therapy-based manualized skills training program for family members of suicide attempters. The program aimed to enhance the knowledge of research-based aspects of suicidal behaviour & treatment recommendations. It included skills training for interpersonal relationships & offered family members an opportunity to share their experiences. 13 participants completed the 9-week program with pre- & post- self-report questionnaires. Results showed a significant reduction in burden, improved psychic health, & an increase in well-being regarding the relationship with the patient. (29 refs.)
