Suicide Among Children and Adolescents: Data From Cukurova, Turkey

This study examined suicide among children & adolescents in Cukurova, Turkey. Cases of suicide in young people under age 18 occurring between the years of 1997-2005 were investigated. 186 cases were identified. The majority of cases were females. Adolescents of 16-18 years consistuted the overwhelming majority of cases, 70.4%, of all childhood suicides. The most frequent method of suicide overall was hanging. (21 refs.)
