This editorial comments on the increase in the rate of suicide among Indian farmers. Factors that have contributed to the rapid increase are discussed. The author asserts that anthropologists & psychiatrists, & others interested in the individual, culture, & society can shift the responsibility for farmer suicide from the farmer to the circumstances precipitating such outcomes.
