This study determined the lifetime prevalence of suicide behaviours in a community sample of Iranian adults. 504 families were selected randomly in the city of Karaj. The SUPRE-MISS questionnaires used covered a variety of aspects of suicidal behaviours. Lifetime prevalence rates for suicide ideation, planning, & attempts were 14%, 6.6%, & 4.1% respectively. Tobacco users & long-term mental & physcial disabilities were significantly higher among subjects with a history of suicide attempts. (21 refs.)
