This study examined the relationship between suicidality & dependent & self-critical depression among adolescents. 96 Israeli adolescents participated: 32 suicidal inpatients, 32 nonsuicidal inpatients, & 32 healthy controls. Results indicated suicidal adolescents have significantly higher levels of self-critical & dependent depression, compared to nonsuicidal inpatients & healthy controls. The distinctive quality of depression among suicidal adolescents suggests assessment & treatment strategies for these individuals. (34 refs.)
