This book began as an exploration of the scope & limits of a state-adopted suicide prevention manual. It expanded into the creation of useful & efficacious guidelines for school-based suicide prevention. Using a human ecological approach, the book examines trends in youth suicide, related legal implications, & the roles of school personnel. Research literature & mandates from a federal government effort informed the creation of the guidelines. There is a call for collaboration between schools & the community to accommodate referral & treatment of identified students, & gatekeeper training for all school personnel.
