The Mental Health and Well-Being of Ontario Students 1991-2007 {CAMH Research Document Series No. 23)

The current extent & patterns of physical & mental health indicators & risky behaviour among Ontario students enrolled in Grades 7-12 is summarized using data from the 2007 Ontario Student Drug Use & Health Survey. About 10% of students, representing about 103,000 Ontario students, reported they had seriously considered suicide during the past year. About 3% of students reported a suicide attempt in the past year. Females were significantly more likely to report contemplating suicide & attempting suicide than males.
