A Predictor Model for Suicide Attempt: Evidence From a Population-Based Study

This study aimed to determine a predictive model for suicide attempt based on its risk factors with the goal of planning therapeutic, preventive, & educational interventions. A total of 2300 individuals in Karaj City, Tehran Province participated in the study. All parts of a questionnaire were filled out by interview. Younger age, female gender, a history of mental disorders, lifelong use of tobacco & alcohol, & unemployment were the independent predictors of suicide attempt. (31 refs.)
