This study investigated associations between suicide intent & psychiatric symptoms & examined the usefulness of the Suicidal Intent Scale & the Comprehensive Psychopathological Rating Scale for suicide risk assessment in an inpatient population in Sweden. 196 suicide attempters, 15 of whom eventually died by suicide, were included. Patients who later died by suicide had higher scores on the Comprehensive Psychopathological Rating Scale than the patients who did not die by suicide. No associations were found between symptoms & suicide intent. (21 refs.)
