Between 1998-2000, 289 psychiatrically hospitalized, suicidal youth, age 12-17 years, participated in this longitudinal study examining the validity & clinical utility of the Reynolds Adolescent Depression Scale, Beck Hopelessness Scale, Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire-Junior, & Suicide Probability Scale. Baseline self-reports were internally consistent & strongly intercorrelated with male, female, white, & black subsamples. All of the measures predicted follow-up suicidality & suicide attempts. The Suicide Probability Scale contributed uniquely to the prediction of future suicidality & suicide attempt. (30 refs.)
