Depressed inpatients with & without Cluster C Personality Disorders were compared in terms of suicidal behaviour & associated psychopathology. Depressed inpatients with pure Cluster C Personality Disorders had higher levels of suicide ideation but not more previous suicide attempts. Greater suicide ideation in these patients was associated with more hostility. Future studies may clarify whether treatment focussed on hostility might be of use for decreasing suicide ideation in depressed patients with Cluster C Personality Disorders. (38 refs.)
