Given the inconsistent findings in the literature, this systematic review examines the nature of the relationship between perfectionism & suicidality. The PsycInfo, Medline, & Web of Knowledge databases were searched. 29 papers were found. There is considerable evidence that self-critical evaluative concerns perfectionism is correlatd with suicidality. The methodological implications for future research are examined. The clinical implications for treatment & how these findings relate to the current conceptual debate on the nature of perfectionism are discussed. (89 refs.)
