The association of monoamine oxidase B density with type of death (21 suicide victims versus 22 non-suicide controls) was evaluated after controlling for age at time of death. A linear regression modelling approach comparing nested models resulted with both type of death & age at death as the main explanatory variables for the variability of monoamine oxidase B density. Suicide victims had more than 30% more binding sites for lazabemide than controls. Results of this study are contrary to previous reports. (39 refs.)
