Abstract
Suicide Among Children and Young People in Norway – Some Epidemiological Development Features
Mehlum L
This article will provide a brief description of changes in the suicide rate among children & young persons in Norway during the last 20-30 years. For a long time, the suicide rate in Norway was relatively low. However, at the end of the 1960s the rate began to rise dramatically. For children & young people (10-24-years of age), the suicide rate increased as steeply as it did for the general population, from an average of 5.4 during 1973-74 to 10.3 during 1993-94. The increase was seen particularly among males. (4 refs.)
