This study explored differences between suicide victims among Russian immigrants in Estonia & native Estonians, according to sociodemographic background, substance use pattern, & recent life events to find out immigration-specific factors predicting suicide. A psychological autopsy study included 427 people who died by suicide in 1999 & 427 randomly selected controls. The only variable that differed significantly between Russian & Estonian suicide cases was substance use patterns. There were some differences in the nature of recent life events. (51 refs.)
