This study describes the pattern of suicide in Bahrain during 1995-2004. 304 registered suicide cases were reviewed & analyzed. The mean suicide rate was 0.6/100,000 for Bahraini nationals, 12.6/100,000 for non-Bahrainis, & 17.7/100,000 for Indian migrants. Men were six times more likely than women to die by suicide. The majority of subjects were under age 35. More research is needed on the epidemiology of suicide risk factors in ethnic groups for further prevention & intevention. (24 refs.)
