This manuscript discusses the rise in suicide rates among young men in Ireland. Possible risk factors are identified: unemployment, living alone, rural living, & mental illness. Prevention strategies & strategies to encourage young men to seek help are reviewed. The paper ends with a brief description of the “Young Men & Positive Mental Health Project”. (25 refs.)
