An Evaluation of the use of ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) in Shetland
This presentation discussed the use of the ASIST program in Shetland. Feedback indicated ASIST was highly rated by participants who reported being better prepared to help others at risk of suicide. Initial follow-up results indicate approximately half the participants have been able to put the training into practice. However, concerns were raised over the emotional impact of the course on participants & the particular demands placed on trainers working in small communities.
