A sample of 134 suicide attempters completed the Reasons for Attempting Suicide Questionnaire (RASQ). Maximum likelihood factor & principal components analyses confirmed the multidimensionality of the questionnaire, with 2-component & 3-factor models each receiving support. Scales from these competing models demonstrated adequate internal consistency reliability. For the 2-component model, 2 previously developed scales demonstrated differential validity with suicide indices. It is concluded this scale has a least 2 dimensions, & it is recommended it be scored for 2 scales. (28 refs.)
