The author is concerned suicide is increasingly becoming a preoccupation for many young people in Australia. He believes that many of the youth suicide prevention programs being delivered in schools may be exacerbating the problem. He discusses problematic aspects of some of these programs & suggests safeguards that can be implemented to ensure mental health programs are safe, effective, & evidence-based. (11 refs.)
