This letter to the editor comments on an article on suicide in Japan previously published in The Lancet. Crump uses his letter to correct some information in the prior article, namely, explanations for the increase in the suicide rate among males, & to outline steps the Japanese government is taking to address suicide, e.g. a national prevention strategy.
