Key articles relating to suicide in developing countries (low & middle income) were examined. Global suicide statistics, a reductionist model of suicide, women, marital status & suicidal behaviour, & developing countries’ priorities are discussed as a prelude to possible solutions to suicide in these countries. Possible solutions include: managing deliberate self-harm, controlling methods of suicide, getting people to help in the interval between the onset of suicidal thoughts & the act of suicide, targeting young married women, reviewing laws regarding suicide, & addressing the social conditions of the masses.
