In this editorial, the author examines the argument that individuals do not own their own lives & thus have no right to end them. He specifically reviews the evidence presented in an article that appeared in “Scientific American” in February 2003. He argues there there are no grounds for supposing all suicides arise from pathological causes. He asserts a right for self-determination & states that the preemptive curtailment of personal liberty for the sake of suicide prevention should be unacceptable. (2 notes)
