ICD-10 Predicts Risk of Relapse and Suicide in People Diagnosed With a Single Depressive Episode

This article provides commentary on a study by Kessing (2004) on the severity of depressive episodes according to ICD-10, & particularly the risk of relapse & suicide. The commentator notes Kessing’s research highlights the value of national databases such as there are in Denmark & further, it adds substance to the suggestion of Paykel that the severity criteria remain part of the International Classification of Diseases.
