Clarke J N
This article discusses the portrayal of death in modern North American society in English language magazines available in Canada & published in the United States or Canada, in 1991, 1996, & 2001. Stories focussed on people dying by passive & active euthanasia, suicide with political & social motivations, suicide deaths among celebrities & the families of celebrities, & issues in the Òright to die movement.Ó The article ends with a discussion of ways this portrayal of death shows the lack of control most North Americans have over the timing & circumstances of death.
