Durkheim’s Precedence in the use of the Terms Egoistic and Altruistic Suicide: an Addendum

This letter to the editor is an addendum to Goldney & SchioldannÕs (2001) communication to this journal concerning Emile DurkheimÕs precedence in the use of the terms egoistic & altruistic suicide. The author attempts to show that many of the ideas associated with Durkheim were not originally his own, & that both these 2 terms that differ little from DurkheimÕs were in use well before Goldney & Schioldann (2001) suggest.
