The dimensions of perceptions of school & family contributing to depression & suicide ideation in Hong Kong youth were examined in 2 studies. In Study 1, among 327 Hong Kong Chinese female students ages 13-19, 47% reported some suicide ideation. Suicide ideation was linked with depression, & test anxiety. Study 2 examined how 3 aspects of perceived family relationship were linked with depression & suicide ideation. Among 371 Hong Kong Chinese youth ages 14-20, 52.6% reported suicide ideation. Low levels of family support were related to suicide ideation. (45 refs)
