This study examines 110 patients, over 18 years of age, who received psychiatric consultation for suicidal attempts were evaluated for clinical symptoms, details of self-harming, history of alcohol use disorder, & family history of substance use or suicide. The severity of depression was measured with the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale. Most cases of suicidal depressed patients were female. Factors associated with suicidal depressed patients who had comorbid alcohol use disorder were male, above 30 years of age & lower education. (21 refs)
