The author asserts that perhaps there really are only two important questions about euthanasia: do our bodies & our selves belong to us so entirely that we may dispose of them in any we wish, & what does new knowledge about death & dying mean for the possibility of legal reform. Various arguments & evidence are put forth to answer these questions. It is concluded that the euthanasia movement may rouse a culture that has long denied the reality of death & in view of the new medical technologies may illuminate a subject that urgently needs thought & concern.
