Awareness of Youth Suicide Issues: a Survey of Selected Middle and High Schools in Washington

This study consisted of 845 questionnaires, regarding awareness & knowledge of suicide-related issues among school personnel, which were provided for all staff from 14 selected Washington schools, from March to early May 2003. Out of the 14 schools selected, 10 of them had previous experience with Youth Suicide Prevention Program (YSPP) training, while the other schools had no previous involvement with YSPP. Most of the respondents were in certified positions (86%), while 11% were in classified & 3% in other positions. Included in this study are recommendations & comments from the survey.
