This article discusses increased suicide risk as a result of individuals’ experiences of loss by suicide, with a focus on three potential links between the two phenomena: grief experienced by suicide survivors & familial risk factors for suicide; suicide clusters & pacts; & consequences of mass media portrayals of suicide. Results of empirical studies & clinical observations will be presented as well as practical recommendations for suicide prevention in this population. (28 refs.)
