This review briefly outlines what is known about the characteristics of people who commit suicide by jumping & describes places around the world that have become known for such suicides. The focus is upon evidence concerning the effectiveness of barriers placed at sites from which suicide by jumping commonly occurs. The arguments for & against such barriers are summarised. (31 refs.)
