This article discusses the impact of stigma, which isolates people from getting the support & information they need. However, the author explains that by being open about the loss of her son to death by suicide she was spared the trauma of stigma & was able to grieve appropriately. By talking about her loss she was given non-judgemental support & was able to provide support for other families who were dealing with the same loss. (LC) (2 refs)
